Dog In The Yard is a movement Pistol Pete started in 2020 during the pandemic. Being incarcerated for a crime he did not commit, Pistol Pete faced a 17 year bid in 1985 which led him to become the Legend he’s known as today in Rikers Island. In an attempt to inspire the youth to not follow the same path, Dog In The Yard was born. Its mission is to educate the youth about the conditions that inmates face by giving them real stories from real comrades. Dog In The Yard also aims to bring awareness to mental health and its effects in prison.
